This medication helps to prevent organ rejection after a kidney, liver, or heart transplant. Generic Imusporin is also used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, and certain skin conditions such as severe dermatitis and psoriasis.

Your doctor will prescribe a dose for you which is tailored to your weight and the reason why you are taking it. It is usual to take a dose of ciclosporin twice daily. Make sure you take it exactly as your doctor has told you - your dose will be on the label of the pack to remind you.

If you have been given capsules to take, swallow each dose with a small glass of water. Do not chew or open the capsules.

Take this medicine at the same time(s) every day. You may take this medicine with or without food, just be sure to take it the same way every day in relationship to your meals. It is important that you do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, unless your doctor tells you to.

Contact your doctor if you feel unwell after use of the medication.

Common side effects are;

  • Increased susceptibility to infections (such as chest or urinary infections), Headache, Feeling or being sick, abdominal pain, Feeling shaky or tired, swollen gums, high blood pressure, skin tingling or numbness,
  • loss of appetite, muscle cramps or pain, and increased body hair.

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to cyclosporine, or if you have certain kidney problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or cancer. Do not drink grapefruit juice while using Generic Imusporin.

It is also important that your doctor or pharmacist knows:

  • If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding.
  • If you have kidney or liver problems.
  • If you have high blood pressure.
  • If you have an infection.
  • If you have cancer.
  • If you are taking or using any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, such as herbal and complementary medicines.
  • If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

Check with your doctor or a pharmacist that they are suitable to take with your other medicines. This is because Generic Imusporin interferes with many medicines (including some painkillers) and so they may not be recommended for you.

If you do forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
